ya...no problems with that. infact i would recommend you give a search for latest available firmware. the firmwares usually differ as per region.

Hello and thanks for this forum!!
I´m completly new to android and yesterday I got my i5700L, I´m very excited with the phone but even more with the possibilities I have with it like upgrading to 2.1. Coming from windows mobile I have flashed my omnia 100 times always making sure not no upgrade its Phone Part as I live in Guatemala and the first time I did I lost my 3G capabilities. No my questtion is:
Will this happen if I upgrade to 2.1 following this procedure? I would height to have to wait for Samsung to release its upgrade here which I´pm pretty sure will be in a long time if they ever do it.

    My phone is:

    GT-i5700L
    PDA: i5700LWMJA1
    Phone: i5700LWMJA1

I will appreciate your advice on this as I want to upgrade badly, no point on learning to use this thing with 1.5 when 2.1 is out there

    slds,

    Hi Faizan,
I followed all the steps. Went through the procedure, Odin uploaded the firmware to the phone and the phone rebooted while the usb cable was still connected to it, gave an icon like an exclamatory mark with in a triangle and a phone like shape below it. I disconnected and reconnected the USB cable and the phone rebooted with the first samsung logo and the status bar below it. Went all the way across and froze there. It doesnt take me to the next screen where the samsung logo glows like in the previous cupcake version. It just stays there.

    hi friend!!
that is unfortunate in your case but not a big problem. you will need to flash pda of your eclair once agair. but i would recommend to go for different baseband version firmware. you can easily find a rapidshare link to one.
then just follow the steps as you had followed earlier.
    all the best!

    Hi Faizan,

Thanks for all your explanations, I have learn a lot from your posts!!
Can you tell me which firmaware should I use?? I'm from ARGENTINA - South America.
    Thanks in advance.

    Cordobes

PS: I got my Spica yesterday, and I'm loving it, but seeing that there is a 2.1 version...... it is so tempting, that I need to give it a try!

PS2: is there a way to roll back to 1.5 if something goes wrong??? Can I backup my 1.5 version prior to the update??

    Thanks again!

    hi Cordobes!
    Welcome to the community!
and first of all thanks for all your appreciations!
first let me know if you have simlock in phone? then you may feature troubles after upgrade.
we have maximum of firmwares available for Asia and Europe. i mean a variety of choice and availability. the only difference that matters between firmwares as per your region is actually the local languages. no much big issues regarding network band like many say about CSC file while flashing.
still you can download a firmware for your locale here!
or i have given a link for another version former your post. choice is yours!

2.1 is great but i should say a bit slower than cupcake. but now a problem when you have bundled features accompanied.

now coming to your next query as if you can roll back to cupcake. yes you can!
first way is to create a backup at recovery screen. but no need to! you will not roll back. thats for sure because eclair is fun. still if you need to roll back at some time, there is another way. you just need to follow above guide as you will for eclair. the only two difference will be the firmware will be cupcake and OS file will be spica.ops and not spica_jc3.ops

dont worry. i am here to guide you for that also. go ahead!

    regards
    faizan

    Thanks Faizan!

I'm having some problems trying to connect to my notebook via Bluethoot and also still can't connect to kies (neither on USB).

Will try to fix that and then make the upgrade

    Thanks again!

    you welcome buddy!
i guess problem in drivers for usb connectivity and in concern with bluetooth, sorry to say but cupcake doesnt feature bluetooth. you need to upgrade to eclair first before using bluetooth on your device.
