I found this thread when I was looking to resolve the issue of the Samsung Galaxy S II locking NOT working properly. I'm surprised to hear you are having the opposite problem we are seeing.

My son and I both just upgraded to the Galaxy S II. He showed me the pattern lock which seems much faster than the numbers I was using. His brother then showed him that if you just pick a bad pattern three times or however long it takes for the screen to time out, then when the screen comes back on the phone is unlocked. The pattern was never entered properly.

My older son then decided to test this to find out what was going on. He discovered if you lock your phone with the power button, and wait for the screen black out then press the power button it starts up without asking for the password.

Also if you lock your phone then try to unlock it twice, wait for the scree to timeout then press the power button it starts up without asking for the password again.

We'd like to find out what to do to make the password locking actually WORK but it seems others are unable to get into their phones. Not sure if this is a S II issue only or what is going on.

I have a 6 year old who was playing with my Samsung Galaxy GT-15503T... I hadn't changed any of the other settings or even loaded up my gmail account to my phone as I had been busy adding contacts. I don't know what pattern she created but I'm totally stuck... I've tried more than 150 times to get into it (it keeps making me wait 30 seconds after I try 5 times) please help me.

[QUOTE=pepsi2k;677]My nephew thought my pattern lock was a game and caused it to lock up after a number of attempts on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I have no idea what my gmail account is - apparently entering the correct address wont work anyway.

Samsung customer support are useless. They will tell you you cannot reset it yourself but to take it to an authorised samsung dealer and pay $39.00AUD with 2 day turn around time.

YES you can unlock it yourself but unfortunately you will have to reset it and lose all your apps/pics etc.

    1. switch off. Hold volume UP and power button and home button simultaneously. release home button (and press again) while still holding volume up and power button. A boot up screen will pop up. Use volume keys to select (reset and restore) press home button to select.

2.Once reset and the phone starts up again it will still show locked. Get another phone to call your phone. as soon as you swipe answer press back key (arrow key) (you gotta be quick) and the main home screen will come up!!! . press the left menu button and select settings and turn off pattern code then go to menu and factory reset the phone again.

It worked for me ,.. hope it works for you too[/

    thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
